The Wall Fitness Chiang Mai: A Gym Worth Coming Back To

The Wall Fitness, Chiang Mai Thailand Gym Review

We’ve visited Chiang Mai a few times now, and The Wall Fitness is one gym we keep coming back to.

Located in the trendy Nimman area, this modern gym is packed with equipment, neon green lighting and a friendly training atmosphere.

It feels a little like somewhere the Hulk would train, although if you’re tall like me, you’ll need to watch your head!

We trained here for a month during one of our visits and really enjoyed the equipment, the people and the community they’ve built.

First Impressions

Walking into The Wall Fitness, the first thing you’ll notice is the neon green lighting and brightly coloured equipment.

It’s modern, clean and has a completely different feel from some of the older local gyms around Chiang Mai.

The machines are packed into a relatively small space, but there’s plenty of equipment for a proper workout.

And thankfully, the air-conditioning works! Always appreciated when training in Chiang Mai’s heat.

The Space & Equipment

The gym is spread across two levels, with a mezzanine overlooking part of the main training area.

They’ve made good use of the available space, although there is one thing worth mentioning.

The ceilings are LOW!

If you’re tall like me, and occasionally a little uncoordinated, you’ll need to watch where you’re going.

The ceiling height is restricted in parts of the main gym because of the mezzanine above, and the upper level isn’t particularly high either.

So maybe don’t go moving around Hulk style!

The layout can also feel a little cramped when it’s busy, particularly when you’re trying to move between machines.

But despite the limited space, I thought the equipment selection was excellent.

Equipment

The Wall Fitness has a good range of free weights, plate-loaded machines, cables and cardio equipment.

You’ll find squat racks, benches, a deadlift platform and functional training equipment.

What impressed me most was the choice of machines.

Given the limited space, the owners have clearly put some thought into selecting equipment that allows you to train every muscle group.

The biomechanics were excellent, and I really enjoyed using the machines.

Everything was clean and well maintained throughout our visits.

Muay Thai & Calisthenics

The Wall Fitness also has a second training location directly across from the main gym.

This area focuses on Muay Thai and calisthenics, giving members the option to mix up their training.

Access to this area cost extra when we visited, with bundled membership options available.

It’s a good addition if you want to combine strength training with something a little different while you’re in Thailand.

What It Felt Like to Train Here

The atmosphere is one of the reasons we keep returning to The Wall Fitness.

There’s a good mix of locals, expats and travellers, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming.

We trained here for a month, and the team made us feel comfortable from the beginning.

English communication was easy, although it’s always worth learning a few basic Thai words when travelling.

And if you share your workout on social media and tag the gym, don’t be surprised if they repost it!

Watching a Powerlifting Competition

One of my favourite experiences here was watching a powerlifting competition during our stay.

And holy crap, some of these athletes were strong!

It was a good reminder that you don’t need to look like the Hulk to lift some seriously heavy weights.

I loved watching the competitors and seeing the support from everyone around them.

It’s this sort of community atmosphere that makes The Wall Fitness more than just somewhere to get your workout done.

Bathrooms & Facilities

The gym was clean and well maintained during our visits.

The air-conditioning worked well, which made a big difference when training in Chiang Mai’s heat.

Personal training was also available, along with access to the separate Muay Thai and calisthenics area for an additional fee.

The main drawback is the limited space.

When the gym gets busy, moving between equipment can be a little tight, particularly if you’re tall.

I’d recommend choosing your training time carefully if you prefer a little more room.

Pricing

When we visited, The Wall Fitness offered:

Day pass: 100 THB
Weekly pass: 500 THB
Monthly membership: 1,000 THB

For the quality of equipment and facilities, I thought the pricing was very reasonable.

Prices and opening hours are from our visits. Check directly with the gym for current information.

My Final Thoughts

We’ve visited Chiang Mai a few times now, and The Wall Fitness is a gym we keep coming back to.

The equipment is excellent, the biomechanics are good, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

I particularly like the community they’ve built. Watching the powerlifting competition during our stay was a great experience and showed just how supportive the training environment is.

The low ceilings and limited space can be a little frustrating, especially when it’s busy, but neither stopped us from having some great workouts.

Would I recommend it?

Absolutely.

For 100 THB a visit, you get excellent equipment, working air-conditioning and a welcoming atmosphere.

Just choose your training time wisely if you want to avoid the crowds.

Stay strong, stay travelling, and keep the adventure alive 🏋️‍♀️✈️🌏
