About

Hi, I’m Ree

Welcome to Gym Travel Blog (GTB), my little corner of the internet where fitness and travel come together.

I share honest gym reviews, travel adventures and real experiences from life on the move.

From finding a decent gym in a new city to exploring somewhere completely different, I write about the places I’ve actually visited and the experiences I’ve had along the way.

How it all started

My love of fitness started around 17 years ago when I met my husband, Luke. He introduced me to a world I didn’t know much about, strength training, movement, discipline and the feeling of becoming stronger in your own body.
Since then, fitness has become a huge part of my life.

Over the years, I’ve tried just about everything, from 12-week challenges and bodybuilding competitions to running the City2Surf, boxing, yoga, Pilates, swimming, Muay Thai, HYROX, padel, and pickleball as well as we completing some pretty amazing hikes around the world.

Some things I loved straight away. Others challenged me. Some things I tried once and decided were probably not for me — and that’s part of the fun!

Why I Started Gym Travel Blog

Before every trip, I would search online for gyms near where we were staying. I wanted to know the simple things: Is there decent equipment? Can I get a day pass? Is it clean? Is it welcoming? Is it worth the visit?

But so often, the information online was limited, outdated, confusing or too generic.

So I started writing the kind of reviews I always wanted to find.

GTB began as a place for honest gym reviews from around the world. Real reviews, based on real visits, written by someone who actually loves to train.

Over time, the blog naturally grew into something broader. Because for me, fitness and travel have always gone hand in hand.

I love discovering new places, exploring different cultures, visiting famous landmarks and finding those hidden gems you might otherwise walk straight past. Whether it’s wandering through a local neighbourhood, visiting a temple, exploring a national park or escaping to an island, there’s always something new to experience.

And sometimes it’s the unexpected things that make the best memories.

GTB has become a place where I share all of it. The gyms I’ve trained in, the places I’ve explored, the experiences I’ve loved and even the ones that didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Because that’s what travelling is all about for me. Getting out, exploring, trying new things and making memories along the way.

My Approach

I’m not here to pretend every gym is perfect or every trip is effortless.

I write with honesty, but also with respect.

Every gym, business and destination has people behind it, and I try to remember that in everything I share.

If I love something, I’ll tell you why. If something disappoints me, I’ll share that too. My experiences are just that – my experiences – and what works for me might not work for everyone.

Whether I’m reviewing a gym, exploring a new city or sharing somewhere I’ve visited, my goal is simple: to give you a genuine insight into what it’s really like, so you can decide if it’s somewhere you’d like to experience for yourself.

And I’d love to hear from you!

If you’ve got a question or want to know more about something I’ve written, please reach out. And if there’s a gym, destination or experience somewhere in the world you think I’d love, let me know!

I’m always looking for somewhere new to explore, and I’d love to check it out and share my thoughts.

You can also follow me on Instagram, say hello or tell me what you think.

Maybe you’ve visited somewhere I’ve written about and had a completely different experience? I’d love to hear your perspective too.

After all, sharing experiences and discovering new places is what GTB is all about.
