Hua Hin, Thailand Gym Review
Body Fit 88 Hua Hin looked like it should have been one of the better gyms we tried in Hua Hin.
It’s big, air-conditioned, centrally located and absolutely packed with equipment.
On paper, it ticked a lot of boxes.
Unfortunately, I just didn’t enjoy training here.
Sometimes you walk into a gym and immediately like the feel of it. Other times, something just feels a little off. For me, Body Fit 88 was the latter.

First Impressions
Body Fit 88 is a large commercial-style gym with around 1,000 m² of air-conditioned training space.
There are multiple training zones, loads of machines, free weights, cardio equipment, fitness classes and a functional training area.
But from the moment we arrived, I didn’t find it particularly welcoming. The staff weren’t overly friendly or engaging and the whole experience felt a little cold and impersonal.

The Space & Equipment
The gym itself is impressive in size and split into different training areas.
Most of the machines were older Cybex-style models. They were showing their age a little, but everything I used was functional and gave me a decent range of movement.
There are squat racks, Smith machines, cables, dumbbells up to 50 kg and plenty of options for a traditional strength workout.
The functional area has battle ropes, TRX, kettlebells and medicine balls, while the cardio section includes treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, a stair climber and rowing machine.
There are also toilets, showers and lockers, cleaning equipment was available, and there was a café onsite for drinks.
It was busy when we visited, but we didn’t have to wait long for equipment.
Basically, if you’re judging Body Fit 88 purely on the facilities, there’s plenty here to work with.
What It Felt Like to Train Here
This is where things fell down for me.
During my workout, I had an uncomfortable interaction with a male gym member who kept encroaching on my personal space.
It unsettled me enough that I eventually ended my workout early and left.
That almost never happens.
Of course, this was my experience on the day we visited, and someone else could walk into Body Fit 88 and have a completely different experience.
Hubby managed to get a solid workout in, but he wasn’t particularly sold on the atmosphere either.
Sometimes a gym just isn’t for you. This one wasn’t for me.
Pricing
A day pass was 300 THB when we visited.
Considering the size, air conditioning and amount of equipment, I can understand the price.
But after training at several gyms around Hua Hin, there were other places I enjoyed more for less money.

My Final Thoughts
Body Fit 88 wasn’t the gym for me.
There’s plenty of equipment and everything you need for a solid workout, but I didn’t enjoy my experience enough to want to train here again.
At 300 THB for a day pass, there are other gyms in Hua Hin I’d choose first.
And that’s really the point of these reviews. A gym can look great online and have all the equipment in the world, but I want to know what it’s actually like to train there.
During our stay, we trained at four different gyms around Hua Hin, and they all offered a very different experience. Be sure to check out my other Hua Hin Gym Reviews.
