Nguyễn Trường Gym Nation Gym
Two weeks training at Nguyễn Trường Gym Nation in Vũng Tàu, Vietnam, and what a hot, sweaty experience it was!
This is a proper local gym with a great range of equipment, affordable pricing and absolutely no air-conditioning. Despite the heat, we really enjoyed training here and settled into a daily routine that I could happily repeat day after day… which is exactly what we did!

First Impressions
Walking into the gym, you’re immediately greeted by a massive mural of bodybuilding legend Kai Greene, setting the tone for what this place is all about.
The gym is spacious, well organised and surprisingly clean, with a good mix of modern and traditional equipment.
But you might notice… the lack of air-conditioning.

The Space & Equipment
The gym makes good use of its large floor space, with plenty of equipment for both strength training and cardio.
There’s a good selection of plate-loaded machines, cables with plenty of attachments, free weights, benches and leg equipment.
Everything we used was in good working condition and well maintained.
There is only one squat rack, which can mean waiting during busier periods, and there’s no dedicated deadlift platform or Smith machine.
What It Felt Like to Train Here
There are wall-mounted fans, but the locals seem to prefer training without them!
In fact, the regulars were quick to turn the fans off, making me feel almost inferior for even thinking I needed one.
At times, I had sweat running down my face and dripping off my chin.
But you know what? You get used to it.
And when you eventually arrive at your next gym with air-conditioning, trust me, you’ll appreciate it tenfold.
The atmosphere was friendly and focused, with a mix of locals, expats and the occasional traveller.
Everyone was respectful and just getting on with their workouts.
English was limited, but between a few words and plenty of gestures, we managed just fine.
Our Daily Routine in Vũng Tàu
We spent two weeks training here, usually getting to the gym early to beat the worst of the heat.
After our workout, we’d head back to our Airbnb for breakfast and a nana nap in some much-needed air-conditioning.
And I firmly believe that needing a nana nap after training and breakfast is a sign of how much effort you’ve put into your workout!
Later, we’d head out for a swim at the pool or beach, visit LOTTE Mart or find somewhere for dinner.
Gym, breakfast, nana nap, swim, dinner. Repeat.
Bathrooms & Facilities
This is a straightforward local gym without luxury facilities.
The training space and equipment were exceptionally clean and well maintained.
There’s no air-conditioning, and although there are wall fans, don’t count on them being switched on.
There was also no water fountain when we visited, so bring plenty of water and a towel.
Pricing
When we visited, the prices were:
Day pass: 40,000 VND
Weekly pass: 200,000 VND
Monthly membership: 500,000 VND
For the quality and variety of equipment, I thought this was excellent value.
The gym operated split opening hours:
Monday–Saturday: 5am–10am and 2pm–8:30pm
Sunday: Closed
I’d recommend training between 5am and 7am to avoid the worst of the heat and crowds.
Prices and opening hours are from our visit. Check directly with the gym for current information.

My Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed our two weeks at Nguyễn Trường Gym Nation.
The equipment quality surprised me, the gym was clean and well organised, and the atmosphere was friendly. For 40,000 VND a visit, it’s excellent value.
The lack of air-conditioning was definitely challenging. I was raining sweat at times, but it didn’t stop us from having some great training sessions.
Would I recommend it?
Absolutely!
And if you’re staying within walking distance of this gym, there’s a good chance you’re also close to LOTTE Mart.
If that’s the case, I highly recommend our Vũng Tàu daily routine:
Gym → Breakfast → Nana nap → LOTTE Mart → Swim → Dinner → Repeat!
