3 Musclers Banqiao, Taipei Taiwan Gym Review
We spent a month staying in Banqiao, New Taipei City, and one of the best things about our accommodation was being just a five-minute walk from 3 Musclers gym.
It’s an underground gym with excellent equipment, a clean and well-organised training space, and friendly staff who made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
And after a month of training here, I can confidently say this was a great find.

First Impressions
First, let me say that Banqiao might not be the most exciting area of Taipei, but there are some advantages to staying here.
We found accommodation was generally cheaper and more spacious than in the more popular parts of the city, and the public transport connections made getting around easy.
Depending on where you’re heading, you’re only a few subway stops from some of Taipei’s main districts.
And for us, having a gym just five minutes from our Airbnb was a big bonus.
3 Musclers is located underground, the gym is modern, well lit and exceptionally clean and with a excellent mix of equipment for strength training, powerlifting and functional workouts.
The staff were friendly from our first visit, and although English was limited, we managed to organise our membership and daily access without any problems.

The Space & Equipment
3 Musclers makes good use of its approximately 150-square-metre space.
There are separate areas for free weights, machines, functional training and a VIP section.
Despite being underground, it doesn’t feel dark or uncomfortable. The lighting is good, the ventilation works well and there are air purifiers throughout.
And like so many places we visited in Taiwan, the gym was incredibly clean.
Equipment
The equipment selection was one of the things I liked most about 3 Musclers.
There’s a strong focus on free weights and serious strength training, with plenty of options for different workouts.
You’ll find:
- Multiple squat racks and benches
- Two ELEIKO weightlifting platforms
- ELEIKO competition rack
- Dumbbells up to 50kg
- Life Fitness and Cybex machines
- Plate-loaded and cable equipment
- Cardio machines
- Calisthenics area
- Functional training turf, sleds and farmer’s walk equipment
There’s also a separate VIP training area, although this requires an additional membership fee.
The equipment was modern, well maintained and thoughtfully selected.
I particularly liked the amount of space dedicated to squat racks, platforms and free weights.
It’s not often you find a gym with so many options for this style of training.
What It Felt Like to Train Here
We trained at 3 Musclers for a month, and it quickly became part of our daily routine.
The gym had a good mix of powerlifters, bodybuilders and regular gym-goers.
Everyone was respectful of the equipment, the space and how others preferred to train.
The staff were friendly and helpful, even though we sometimes needed a few gestures to get our message across.
There’s a strong training atmosphere without it feeling intimidating.
And one thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness.
The Morning We Battled a Typhoon
One morning, we decided to brave the weather and head to the gym despite a typhoon passing through Taipei.
We made our way there, only to discover it was closed.
Clearly, we’d underestimated the weather!
So here’s a tip if you’re visiting Taiwan during typhoon season: check the gym’s social media pages before heading out.
They post updates about closures and changes to opening hours.
It might save you an unnecessary trip through a typhoon!

Bathrooms & Facilities
The gym was exceptionally clean, including the bathrooms.
There was also a drinking water station with cold, warm and hot water available.
The underground location means there’s no natural light, but the lighting, ventilation and air purifiers made the space comfortable for training.
Overall, the facilities were well maintained and had everything we needed.

We trained here for a month and thought the membership was good value considering the equipment and facilities.

My Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed our month training at 3 Musclers.
The equipment was excellent, everything was clean and well maintained, and the staff were welcoming.
Having the gym just five minutes from our Airbnb made it easy to keep up our training routine while exploring Taipei.
Would I recommend it?
Absolutely.
Whether you’re staying in Banqiao for a few days or planning a longer visit, it’s a great option for strength training.
And if you’re considering staying outside central Taipei, Banqiao is worth looking at. We found the accommodation better value, transport was convenient and having a gym like this nearby was a bonus.
